Nature and Wildlife Photography by James Morton

Alberta, Canada

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.

Spotlight

One of Alberta’s most magnificent Raptors, the Northern Herrier can be found gliding low over open plains and marshland hunting for small mammals like mice or voles. The shape of their face allows them to hunt not only with razor-sharp sight, but also with echolocation. Their habitat is threatened by agricultural expansion and pesticide use, so it’s important we preserve wetland and grassland areas to ensure their continued survival.  You can learn more about these amazing birds at the CornellLab All About Birds website.
