My Story
Welcome! I’m James Morton - a nature and wildlife photographer based out of Red Deer, Alberta. I grew up in rural Alberta not far from the edge of the Rocky Mountains, where I spent much of my childhood surrounded by wildlife and beautiful landscapes. Whether it was hiking, beekeeping or simply the sounds of birds in the trees on a spring morning, my connection with nature has always been a big part of who I am. I was raised by a warm, loving family with a strong appreciation for the natural world — people who taught me to respect the land and live in rhythm with nature.
Those early experiences left a lasting impression. Photography became a way for me to stay connected to that world — to pause, observe, and share those fleeting moments that often go unnoticed. Through the lens, I try to tell the quiet stories of the wild: the grace of a bird mid-flight, the stillness of a forest, the details of a bloom lit by morning sun.
My work is guided by a deep appreciation for the natural world and a belief that we have a responsibility to protect it. Conservation is more than a value — it’s a driving force behind why I photograph. I hope that by showcasing the beauty and fragility of the ecosystems around us, my images can inspire others to care, connect, and take action.
My galleries are a reflection of what matters to me most: wild spaces, vibrant life, and the stories nature quietly tells. I hope my work brings you a little closer to the natural world — and encourages you to help protect it.
